For a great value, the L.L.Bean Sherpa Fleece Jacket continues to be a top-tier favorite for all the sherpa lovers out there. Its color selection is wonderful and we love the exaggerated two-tone look at the button closure. Plus, it has that slightly cropped edge.
We need to let you in on a secret — the Free People Hit The Slopes Fleece Jacket is a constant best-seller, so much so that Hailey Baldwin swears by it. It’s one of our favorites in our closet, too, and we can’t stress enough how much you need this less-than-$150 jacket.
This warm sherpa-style puffer jacket is too cuddly to pass up. It’s designed to have a closer fit, which we like, because who wants to be overpowered by their coat? Snap closures and a zippered side pocket up the functionality of the outwear piece, and it comes in three lovely neutral colors.
Sherpa jackets tend to have a streetwear feel. However, we think this Sam Edelman fleece coat is fancy enough for special occasions. It’s not only its tailored fit and large buttons that gives it a more sophisticated vibe, but the stand collar and hip length cut. Made from 100% polyester, this pick does require dry cleaning, but it’s available in four different colors and we love them all!
When the weather is getting colder but isn’t exactly frigid, we like a hoodie, especially when it doubles as a sherpa lined jacket. This pick from L.L.Bean is cozy, a great option for fall and has more than 2,000 five star reviews! It looks great with jeans, is ideal for casual days out on the town and is available in five colors.
Ever feel like you want to carry your favorite blanket with you everywhere? Well, we’re not recommending doing that but this long sherpa coat makes it sort of possible. It’s plush like the softest, coziest bedding but you won’t look weird wearing it around. Best of all, it’s functional, featuring exterior and interior pockets, a high collar and knee-length to keep you warm.
Continuing on the cozy train, the Kirundo Shearling Sherpa Pullover is your finest sherpa jacket — but with a twist. Its overlap neck detailing replaces the need for your hefty winter scarf, and we love how it has a hoodie-like fit.
The checkered zipper sherpa from Merokeety checks all our boxes. Its size range spans to plus sizes, too (2XL, specifically) and it’s just the perfect length in case you want to layer it with a parka or winter coat. Plus, it’s just shy of $30 to keep things affordable.
Keep it edgy and cool, while staying warm! It’s not hard to do with this sherpa lined biker jacket. It’s available in four colors, looks cute with a mini skirt, jeans or leggings, and even has a vintage style silhouette.
Two sherpa jackets for the price of one? Yes, please! And if you go with this one from Lucky Brand, you’ll enjoy front pockets and an attached hood, too!. Huggable in its coziness and light enough to wear indoors, you may not want to take this off!

If Pinterest stepped off its board, this is what it would look like. For just $25 at SHEIN, this adorable teddy coat receives an enthusiastic stamp of approval from us. Not only is it a great look for apple or pumpkin picking this year, but it’s just a cute outerwear piece to have on deck (at all times, if we’re being honest).
For a sherpa that’s ideal for running errands and shuffling to and from, we recommend the Alo Yoga Foxy Sherpa Jacket. It’s a definite splurge but is sure to keep you stylish and toasty warm at the same time. Plus, it looks great with a cute sports bra.
For your trip to the apple orchid or mountains, grab this! Besides having kangaroo pockets and elastic cuffs, it has a sherpa lined collar for warmth. Also, the retro design makes the jacket look like you scored it in some undiscovered vintage store. You know, the non-curated ones that require you to dig through all the stuff? We love it!
For a chilly office or days when it’s still too warm for a full on jacket, go for something like this. The sherpa vest is plush, has zipper pockets perfect for storing keys and your phone, and comes in a variety of colors. Regardless if you’re plus size, petite or regular, they have options for you!
Live in a place where it rains more than snows? Try this jacket on for size. It’s waterproof, wind-proof, and has velcro cuffs to keep heat sealed in and cold air out. The pockets are ventilated, too, and you can even adjust the jacket’s fit with the drawcord hem. Also a great option for running and other sporty fall activities, you won’t want to leave home without it.

Feeling blue about hanging up your favorite denim jacket with the weather getting colder? This should cheer you up. The sherpa-lined interior will keep you warm and snuggly as you apple pick, pumpkin pick and do all the other autumn things that you love. Front pockets with button closures make a good place to store cash or a tube of chapstick, and there’s even some stretch if you want to wear a thicker sweater beneath.
Are sherpa jackets any good?
Absolutely! Sherpa is not only soft but great at retaining heat. Because of this, it’s a material people gravitate to in fall and early winter.
Made to resemble shearling, which comes from wool, it can be created from a blend of polyester, acrylic and cotton. It’s lightweight but warm, often appearing in the lining of coats and jackets.
One of our favorite sherpa jackets comes from J.Crew. The Teddy Sherpa Jacket ($278) not only has a unique and dressy style but is ultra snuggly. Although light, it keeps the chill off and looks really good while doing it.
Another pick we like is the ReachMe Pullover (starting at $27). It’s sort of like a luxe sweatshirt with a hood. It has a zipper that can be pulled up to keep the neck area warm, plus comes in a variety of different colors.
Are sherpa jackets warmer than puffer jackets?
Sherpa jackets and puffer jackets have different insulation properties. While both are warm, each are best for different purposes.
Puffer jackets are made for cold weather. They’re typically filled with polyester or goose down, and are designed to lock out cold air. (Related: Best Puffer Jackets for Women)
In contrast, sherpa jackets work well in moderately cool or cold weather. They’re cozy but aren’t designed to protect again windchill and damp elements the way that puffer coats are. However, they are still warm, work great for layering and give an additional level of protection when temperatures begin to drop.
