Department Marketing Statement:

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro) is building a state-of-the-art cybersecurity program to better protect the critical transit infrastructure supporting our nation's capital. The Cybersecurity Analyst III will oversee threat intelligence functions to support the research, analysis, and identification of threat intelligence trends that may impact Metro's data, systems, and interests; develop and implement robust reporting and metrics capabilities to track and communicate threat intelligence findings, key performance indicators (KPIs), and actionable insights to stakeholders and leadership; and support the proactive mitigation of threats by continuously monitoring, collecting, and analyzing threat intelligence feeds, indicators of compromise (IOCs), and security incident data. The Analyst III will also collaborate with the Cyber Fusion Center (CFC) to support cyber investigations by providing expert analysis, guidance, and insights into emerging threats and attack vectors and drive workflow improvements by identifying inefficiencies in threat intelligence processes and implementing solutions to streamline data collection, analysis, and dissemination.

The ideal candidate for this role will be a skilled cybersecurity professional with proven experience in threat intelligence analysis, cyber investigations, and incident response. This individual will have extensive knowledge of the various methods and tools used to detect, investigate, and respond to cyber intrusions. They will also possess excellent problem-solving skills and inter-personal skills which may be applied to assess threats using logs, alerts, network data, and other available information sources and engage with internal stakeholders to address concerns and promote collaboration in threat intelligence sharing and response efforts.

Summary

The Cybersecurity Analyst III is responsible for identifying and remediating security threats. The analyst designs defensive measures and monitor information collected from a variety of sources to identify, analyze, and report events that occur or might occur within the network to protect information, information systems and networks from threats.
