She grew up dreaming of becoming a doctor, and thus spent most of her time studying, so that she could eventually win a scholarship to a prestigious university. Nakyung was interested in a couple of activities during her high school years, including acting with her school’s drama club, and painting.

Upon matriculating in 1995, she enrolled at Seoul University hoping to become a doctor, but shifted to arts after realizing that it was what she really wanted; Nakyung graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1999.
